A Smooth Start To My Day

chocolate carrot smoothieI get two weeks a year to myself while The Kid visits her grandparents during the summer. I do enjoy this time since I have her 24/7 the rest of the year, but I miss her more than words can say. She’s my little buddy, my partner in crime, my fellow questor. (Hey, little buddy, if you’re reading this. Be safe on the way to the beach! Muah!)

During these two weeks, I do my annual uber house cleaning. I love me a clean house – oh the smell of bleach! This cleaning usually takes the better of two entire days since everything in the house is moved and vaccuumed under. If you would like to knit yourself a dog later, let me know. I’ll send you the mountain of dog hair I’m sure to collect.

For the sake of simplicity and so that I can get right at the cleaning before leg day, I decided to throw together a smoothie this morning for breakfast. It was filling and turned out well.

  • 3.5 oz sliced raw carrots (basically one medium sized)
  • 1 cup soy milk
  • 1 Tbsp peanut butter
  • 1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa
  • Cinnamon
  • 4 ice cubes

Blend in your blender. I used my Magic Bullet and it worked perfectly. I think next time I might use more ice to make it a little more smoothie-like but it was good. The color was a bit odd with the orange carrots and brown chocolate. Kinda the color of wood, but good nonetheless.
