Almond Butter Bacon Sriracha BurgerWhen people think of fast food, they usually think of burgers. When people think about fast food, they usually think unhealthy. Does that mean burgers = unhealthy? Nope, that doesn’t have to be the case at all.

When I think of fast food burgers I think yawn, how boring. There are so many options out there to make your own burger and make it way better than a plain old burger. Get wild with your flavors and textures and you’ll never want to go back to fast food burgers again.

I kid you not on this one. I had plenty of macros the other day to eat a Whataburger burger. Not even the kid’s meal size. We’re talking the full fledged adult sized Whataburger. What did I think to myself as I pondered being hungry? Meh, I’d rather make my own because it tastes better. 😉

And so I did… and then made a different version the next day with the leftover burger patties. I’m purposely leaving out the exact measurements of what I used because you should customize your ingredients and amounts based on what you like and what fits into your eating.

I listed the calories in my versions so that you could have a starting point and see that these aren’t major calorie bombs by any stretch. I’m not trying some trick on you either. My burgers were the standard 4 oz burger size, not mini burgers. Have fun with your creations. Don’t like almond butter, use peanut butter or even a flavored peanut butter. Want a different cheese, use a different cheese. Want a bun instead of bread, use a bun.

You can use the ingredients I used, but add more or less of them based on your calories. Nothing is set in stone with creating in the kitchen. Think salty, sweet, crunchy, gooey, creamy, spicy. You get the idea? When you combine flavors and textures, it gets exciting and your tastebuds squeal with joy. What? You haven’t heard them squeal? Heehee, then you’re burgering all wrong. (Yes, I made burger into a verb.)
