Last year was the first year I decided to go with the blogger trend of picking a theme to focus on for the next 12 months. Throughout the year when faced with making decisions, I pondered the word and tried to go with the choice that empowered me the most.
I tried new classes and activities for the first time. I got certified in personal training and fitness nutrition. I branched out on my own in the gym instead of relying solely on a trainer. I tackled quite a few things on my Quest List. All in all, I’d say I was pretty successful.
This year I put a lot of thought into my theme word. I wanted something that would challenge me to keep growing both personally and professionally. It finally came to me. My theme word for 2013 is Change. I’m very much a creature of habit. I like my comfort zone. I occasionally leave its warm fuzziness, but typically it’s kicking and screaming and only after much over-analysis.
This year I hope to change that and do some growing and changing. Many of the goals that I’ve set for myself involve huge changes so it’s time to get started. Here are a few things that I’ve got planned:
- Change my workouts up and build enough muscle to compete in Figure Class. That’s not to say I will compete since I haven’t decided yet if I want to go through contest prep again. The muscle is what I’m aiming to achieve. Mind over matter and I will grow!
- Save $50K by the end of the year. Yes, that’s a lot of change (pun intended). I plan to cut back on some expenses where possible but also to do little things to make extra money. My happy bank account will get me that much closer to retirement.
- Make a change professionally. I haven’t yet decided what this change is but I will do something. How do you know what you want to do when you grow up? 😉 I know what makes me happy. I just need to make a leap.
The thought of some of these changes is both scary and exciting at the same time. It’s sure to be a wild ride and I’m looking forward to what 2013 will bring.
Do you have a theme word for the year? How do you feel about change? Do you embrace it or fear it?
Good luck with all of the changes!!
Thanks! I’m very excited but nervous. I can do it though. 🙂
