Dreams Sometimes Start With A Leap

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Today is a rainy, rather dreary Monday here in Texas. Sounds depressing, doesn’t it? Except when you factor in that this is the first rain we’ve gotten since May, it puts things into another perspective all together. It makes this rainy Monday a pretty great day!

Yesterday also marked the one year anniversary of my first skydiving adventure. I say first, because I promised The Kid I would go with her once she is of legal age to jump. I’ve got a few years to prepare. If you missed the story, you can read about it here. It was one heck of a ride. 😉

Since we are looking at things from another perspective today, I’ll call this Motivation Monday! Let’s reminisce shall we? Everyone has hopes and dreams. Sometimes they require taking a leap of faith. Along the way, there will be things and even people that will tell you that you’re crazy for wanting to do it.

You may have no idea how to reach the destination. You may be given directions by people who have done it before. Sometimes you listen and sometimes you don’t, and sometimes you even have an expert to help you along the way …

Flight Up

Then they throw open the door and point to the step there is that moment (or more than a moment) when you think you seriously have lost your mind for wanting to do this in the first place. Self doubt sets in …

Holy Cow

Can you guess what I was thinking?

You somehow find the courage and go ahead anyway. Yes, it helps if you have a shove by someone else. Once you’re out there, you realize that you can do this and that you can actually fly! …skydiving

Once you do it, you’ll realize that there is no comparison to the journey and the feeling is indescribable. You’ll also be pretty proud of yourself and very glad that you did it. The sense of accomplishment is amazing! …after skydiving

What are your hopes and dreams? What are you going to set out to accomplish today? It starts with one single leap! Happy Monday. Are you motivated yet? 🙂

PS – That picture above was just as they opened the door and pointed to the step for me to place my feet. It makes me laugh till I cry even to this day. That moment is what insanity feels like.
