I don’t know about your house, but weekends are crazy around here. Errands to be run, house to be cleaned, dog walking, chaffering The Kid, squeezing in fun activities, cooking and grilling. The list goes on for miles. Sometimes there just isn’t time for an hour long workout.
When life gets in the way, you just need to get down to it and get the workout done. The best way to do it is with a mix of bodyweight strength and cardio. The mix of exercises in a circuit gets everything in during the same workout and frees you up to do other more pressing things.
I did this workout today and loved the alternating upper and lower body moves with the fast cardio to keep my heart rate up. Remember to warm up first and cool down afterwards. If you do 3 rounds, it should take you about 15 – 20 minutes. Five rounds is approximately 25 – 30 minutes. I had no excuses that I didn’t have the time.
You can even do this workout in the backyard while the kids are playing or even in front of the TV while catching up on stuff on your DVR. No equipment needed but you, your body, and a clock or timer of some sort. If you’re short on time, do less rounds. Have a half hour and the energy? Do all 5 rounds.
Don’t worry if you can’t complete a round without resting. If you need to rest, rest! I took a brief break during the push ups since I couldn’t do 30 straight through. Keep track of your total time and the number of rounds. Challenge yourself the next time you do the workout to beat your time.
Let me know how it goes!
I love workouts that don’t require equipment!
No equipment is my favorite too. I try to do mine in the backyard if the weather allows. Look for more workouts like this coming up. I’m planning out a few that are fast and don’t require any equipment.
