For some reason The Kid and I are on a documentary kick lately. I blame it on the sucky Netflix streaming choices. Now that I’m thinking of it, I just need to cancel the dang membership after we’ve finished all the good documentaries. There isn’t much else on there now to bother with. Back on topic though…
We’ve seen some pretty good ones. I highly recommend Life In A Day, Fat Head, and Better Stronger Faster. Make sure to look away in the “cow scene” in Life In A Day or you’ll think twice before eating a burger ever again. The latest one we saw was a conspiracy theory documentary on 9/11. I’m not saying that I buy into all of the theories or everything these films are implying, but I like them because they are thought provoking.
The Kid and I have had some really interesting discussions on whether we think X is true or Y makes sense. I like getting her viewpoint especially since she sees it from the perspective of a not yet jaded pre-teen. You can’t get much purer than that. Some things she says make me stop and think “Wow, you might have something there! I didn’t think about that.”
I post a lot of questions of the day to twitter and facebook too for the same reason. I love hearing other people’s opinions on the world. Twitter is a little better for this purpose since it’s open to the public and not just those who have friended me. That gives me a bigger sampling of the general population so to speak and not just from those who are like me.
I like reading everyone’s answers along with the reasoning behind it. It gives me a fresh perspective and sometimes even changes my own thinking. I don’t usually post on controversial topics but more on every day kinds of things.
- Do you do a meatless day of the week?
- Toilet paper roll over or under?
- Coffee or tea?
- Should I workout with DOMS or take a rest day and hit it hard tomorrow?
- Real or artificial Christmas tree?
I’ve learned a ton of things along the way and love getting different opinions. People are very opinionated on their rolls of toilet paper! 😉 There have been times that I thought one way and then read an answer and decided to try something new. That’s what makes life fun – learning and keeping an open mind.
Question of the day – If you could ask a question of the day, what would it be? Hmmm, I wonder what random question will pop into my mind today… 😉
