Homework has picked up here now that school is in full swing. Thankfully I still have the brain power to help out with it effectively. Yes, I’ll brag that I can still operate at an 8th grade level in most subjects. Take that Jeff Foxsworthy and your 5th graders! My brain almost melted last night working on significant digits. Because it takes us an hour or so at night to get homework done, I’ve been running short on time and decided to change up my cardio.
I’m moving to shorter but more intense intervals in addition to my lifting so that I have extra time to do the other non-negotiable things in life. If you push yourself, most times you don’t have to spend a long time on the treadmill or running miles to burn your calories. It’s also good to change things up every now and then to keep progressing. Don’t always do the same thing or you’ll get the same results.
Shorter workouts also means that you have less excuses to not get a workout done. This one took me less than 10 minutes. I know you have 10 minutes to spare to do this. You could even (gasp!) get up 10 minutes earlier to squeeze it in. If you’re feeling extra daring, you could do it once in the morning and then again in the evening to “bookend” your day with workouts. You’d boost your metabolism in the morning first then, and then again during the evening slump. Your body will thank you for it.
I admit I hated the burpees at the end but I’ve discovered that I usually hate what I need to do the most. Time yourself and then do it again in a couple weeks to see if you’ve improved. My first time out was 9 minutes and 24 seconds. Don’t forget I’m slow as molasses so you may even be faster. If you give it a try, let me know how you did.
Come on over to Facebook and post your time. While you’re there, challenge someone to beat you. I’ll also be posting my cardio workouts so you can do them along with me. Yesterday was a doozie with more burpees, squats and sit ups, oh my.
